According to a representative of the Refugee Department, Coordinator of Amnesty International in Amsterdam, Dutch authorities have rejected the refugee claims of former Soviet Jews who came from Israel on the basis that they did not meet the definition of a refugee as stated in the 1951 Convention and the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees (19 May 1993).
