Amnesty  International lists the following people as being among those arrested in connection with the September 1989 coup attempt: Major Courage E.K. Quarshigah, Flight-Lieutenant William Kofie Domie, Squadron Leader Edward Yehoenu Akakpo, Major W.M. Binka, Captain J.S. Atengdem, Lieutenant D.K. Ameko, Kwabena Donkor, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulai Yusuf (16 July 1990, 1-4). As well two BNI officers, Prince Aquaah and Chris Amamatey, were under surveillance for some time to investigate allegations that they too had been involved in the alleged coup plot (Ibid., 3).

According to Amnesty International, among those arrested in connection with the September 1989 alleged coup plot, only Major Courage Quarshigah, Edward Akakpo, Joy Cudjoe and Simon Sablah had been released by late 1992 (AI 16 Dec. 1992, 3).
