Specific information relating to the presence of a Catholic Church in Tungawan, near Zamboaga city in Mindanao could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

However, "93 % of the population is Christian, most of them Roman Catholics. ... a moderate number of people believe in the Muslim faith in the southern island of Mindanao and its surrounding islands ... [Zamboanga] has a mixture of Muslim mosques and Catholic churches " (Asean-Japan Centre, n.d).

No information on whether a death certificate would be issued by Church or government authorities and whether the issuing authority would be different in a case of homicide could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
