Information on state protection available to women who have been raped in Yugoslavia is scarce. A 15 December 1998 AP report states that a member of the Yugoslav national basketball team was given a three year prison sentence for having raped a 15-year-old girl. The Belgrade judge said upon sentencing that three years in prison is the minimal sentence for such an offence. An appeal on the sentence was sent to a higher court.
No further information on state protection available to women who have been raped in Yugoslavia could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
