The United States has announced the transfer of six detainees from Guantanamo Bay to Oman, the latest step in President Barack Obama's push to close the controversial jail for terrorism suspects.
Most prisoners have been held without charges or trial at the facility in Cuba.
The Pentagon said the six men, all Yemenis held for more than a decade, had been flown to Oman for resettlement and arrived on June 13.
This is the first movement of detainees out of Gantanamo in five months.
The transfers include Emad Abdullah Hassan, who has been on hunger strikes since 2007 in protest of his confinement without charge since 2002.
The five other detainees sent to Oman were identified by the Pentagon as Idris Ahmad 'Abd Al Qadir Idris, Sharaf Ahmad Muhammad Mas'ud, Jalal Salam Awad Awad, Saa'd Nasser Moqbil Al Azani, and Muhammad Ali Salem Al Zarnuki.
