A New Time (Un Nuevo Tiempo, UNT) is a leftist, regional political party (Infobae 8 Nov. 2004) that was established in the State of Zulia for the 2000 elections (Cuadernos del Cendes Jan. 2002). The party leader is Manuel Rosales (Descifrado 10 Oct. 2003), who was elected governor of Zulia for a second time on 31 October 2004 (Venezuela n.d.a; Últimas Noticias 12 Nov. 2004). Elected members of the party occupy various functions, including positions in the National Assembly (Asamblea Nacional) and on the Zulia State Legislative Council (Consejo Legislativo del Estado de Zulia) (Venezuela n.d.b; ibid. n.d.c). The UNT is also a member of the opposition coalition called the Democratic Coordination (Coordinadora Democrática, CD) (CD n.d.). According to Inter Press Service (IPS), Rosales is one of the top CD leaders (24 Sept. 2004).
No information on the exact date the party was created, the address of its headquarters, or its logo could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
