Please note that since the beginning of 1995, the FMLN has experienced numerous internal split-ups resulting in the formation of various political factions. The attached February 1995 article from Mesoamerica provides an indication of the substantial reforms carried out within the party's organization. However, current information on the structure and  size of membership of the FMLN and youth wing as well as on government positions held by FMLN members, could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

For information on the events involving the FMLN for the period 1993-1996 please consult Response to Information Request SLV23350.F of 28 March 1996 and its attachments, available at your regional documentation centre.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
