In addition, please find attached media reports on sentences handed down by judges in cases of violence against women and on the attitudes of certain judicial officials toward sentencing in such cases.

It is important to note that cases tried under the Sexual Offenses Act are heard in camera, and only in the event of a guilty verdict are the trial proceedings made public (CAFRA 28-30 Jan. 1991, 3).

Information on whether protection orders are being enforced by the police could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.
