Please find attached a number of articles from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) on the situation of Hungarians in the Vojvodina province of Serbia in Yugoslavia.

The 8 May 1992 report from RFE/RL indicates that Hungarians "have been drafted into the federal army and sent to the front in numbers well out of proportion to their share of the population..." (8 May 1992, 30). A correspondent with Vreme also indicated in a fax of 3 December 1991 that Hungarians from Vojvodina were being conscripted. Further, a recent report from the Hungary-based Kossuth Radio Network indicates that in some areas of Vojvodina, reservists have refused to mobilize (11 Apr. 1992). These reservists have the support of the Democratic Community of Vojvodina Magyars and opposition parties in Vojvodina (Ibid.).

In addition, for your interest, please find attached Response to Information Request YUG10605 of 15 April 1992 on the status of Vojvodina province in Serbia. Further, please consult the Response to Information Request YUG10630 of 8 April 1992 on military conscription, available at your Regional Documentation Centre.
