According to an article published by the United Press International on 17 August 1990 and one by Reuters on 16 August 1990, Robert Minangoy, a French correspondent for Radio France International (RFI), was expelled in August 1990 for behaviour "incompatible with [the] national interest." On 11 August 1990, Robert Minangoy broadcasted a report on the transport across Côte d'Ivoire of arms destined for rebels led by Charles Taylor in Liberia (Ibid.).
