For information on the return to Romanians of land that was confiscated by the state after World War II, the maximum amount of land that can be returned to them, legislation pertaining to the reacquisition process and on difficulties hindering resolutions of land claims, please consult the second page of the 20 August 1995 Reuters attachment, the other Reuters attachments, and the last paragraph of the first page, and the remainder on the second page, of the 25 November 1995 Associated Press (AP) attachment.

Information on the forms of legal recourse available to those who desire to reacquire land that was confiscated by the state after World War II, and on the treatment of those whose former land was returned to them, could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
