Russia and Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia are working on a new "comprehensive agreement on integration," according to the head of administration for the breakaway region's de facto president.
South Ossetia's RES news agency quoted Boris Chochiev as saying that the new agreement would bring bilateral relations "on a qualitatively new level, first of all in the military sphere."
No other details of the planned new treaty have been reported.
Meanwhile, the de facto government of Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia on November 19 endorsed for signature a draft treaty on the "alliance and strategic partnership" with Russia.
Moscow recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states after a brief war between Russia and Georgia in 2008.
Russia has kept its military units in both regions.
