Fire and smoke billows from the site of an explosion in Beirut's southern suburbs on January 2.
Lebanese state media says a car bomb in southern Beorut has killed six people and wounded dozens more.
The January 2 explosion hit the neighborhood of Haret Hreik, a stronghold of the Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah.
Images broadcast on Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV showed smoke billowing at the site of the blast and firefighters putting out several cars that were ablaze.
The footage showed at least one building that had its facade blown off, and several neighboring buildings were also damaged.
The UN Security Council condemned the bombing.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also said the blast "further reflects a deeply worrying escalation in the violence witnessed in Lebanon in recent months."
Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on January 2 appealed for international support to curb the violence.
The Lebanese capital has been hit by a series of bombs in recent months as sectarian tensions between Sunni and Shi'ite rise with the conflict in neighboring Syria.
