1) The Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Report-Near East & South Asia for 6 December 1988 notes that 13 LTTE militants were killed at Vavuni Kulam, in the Vavuniya area, when an IPKF patrol spotted an LTTE ambush and opened fire. No further information is available to the IRBDC at the present time regarding this event.

2) No information is available to the IRBDC regarding retaliations carried out by the IPKF for the attack. Incidences of IPKF retaliation are noted in an earlier response to an information request regarding allegations of abuses committed by the IPKF, and in an Amnesty International report from May 1989 on the continuing human rights violations in Sri Lanka. Both of these documents are attached (the attachments to the earlier response have been omitted).
