On 12 February 2001 an official at the British High Commission in Ottawa stated that holders of Danish passports have the right to enter and leave the United Kingdom freely, and that the British immigration authorities will not necessarily stamp a Danish passport when its holder enters or leaves the United Kingdom.
On 16 February 2001 a representative of the Danish Embassy in Ottawa stated that Danish passports are issued to Danish citizens only, and that all Danish passports are marked as European Union passports
