The following information on Gulf Air was taken from its Website.  Gulf Air was originally founded on 24 March 1950 as Gulf Aviation Company with the British Overseas Aircraft Corporation (BOAC) as majority shareholder (Gulf Air n.d.).  In 1973, the governments of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates jointly purchased BOAC's shares and on 1 January 1974 Gulf Aviation became Gulf Air. In 1992, the company opened a new headquarters in Muharraq, Bahrain.The current President and Chief Executive, of the United Arab Emirates, is H.E. Dr. Shaikh Ahmed Bin Saif Al-Nehyan.
