Pakistan's army says gunmen who shot teenage activist Malala Yousafzai in 2012 have been arrested.
Major General Asim Bajwa told reporters in Islamabad on September 12 that 10 people associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), had been arrested in a joint operation involving the army, police and intelligence agencies.
He said the current leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Maulana Fazlullah, was behind the attempt to kill Malala.
She was targeted as punishment for her campaign against Taliban efforts to deny girls education.
Malala was shot in the head but recovered and went on to earn international plaudits for her fight for the right of all children to an education.
Malala now lives in Britain, where she was taken with her family for treatment.
She won the EU's prestigious Sakharov human rights prize last year and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
