Information received from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) indicates that the Canadian Embassy in Addis Ababa is active and has been in existence since 1968 (CIC, Refugee Affairs Branch, Asylum Division 9 Oct. 1996).

Information on whether the embassy processed sponsorship applications by Canadian residents for their dependents in Ethiopia between 1990 and 1994 could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
