In a 7 January 1998 fax, the coordinator of the Sri Lanka Project at the Refugee Council in London, United Kingdom, stated that "Human Rights for Tamils (HURT) was a London-based NGO established by Tamils. HURT was dissolved a year ago and has been replaced by another organisation named Tamil Centre for Human Rights (TCHR) based at 55 Bondway, London SW8."

Unsuccessful attempts were made to contact TCHR for corroborating and/or additional information on HURT.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
