According to a authority on Arab affairs Saudi Arabia and Sudan, both members of the Arab League, enjoy very close relations. He stated that although there are no reported official agreements between the two countries to repatriate politically active nationals or the mass repatriation of Sudanese from Saudi Arabia, "one cannot speculate on the fate of individual Sudanese political opponents in Saudi Arabia" (telephone interview on 10 August 1990). The source suggested the unlikelihood of a Sudanese political opponent seeking refuge in Saudi Arabia.
