Egypt's president has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb and his cabinet.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi accepted the resignation on September 12, the same day it was offered, according to a statement from Sisi's office.
Sisi ordered the cabinet to continue working until a new government can be formed. He also ordered outgoing Oil Minister Sharif Ismail to form a new government.
Mehleb angrily stormed out of a press conference in Tunisia on September 9 after being asked about the resignation and arrest on corruption charges earlier in the week of Agriculture Minister Salah Helal.
Egypt is already scheduled to hold parliamentary elections in two phases between October 17 and December 12.
