A British Marine has been found guilty of murdering an injured Afghan insurgent, and telling fellow soldiers not to talk about the killing.
The Royal Marine, known only as "Marine A," was convicted at a court martial on November 8.
The Marine was accused of shooting dead a wounded Afghan in Helmand Province in September 2011.
Fellow soldiers testified that the Marine told them right after killing the Afghan "Obviously this doesn't go anywhere fellas. I just broke the Geneva Convention."
A camera attached to the helmet of one of the three Marines present at the killing recorded the incident, including the moment when Marine A quotes Shakespeare by saying the Afghan insurgent had shuffled off his "mortal coil" just after he had shot the injured man with his 9-millimeter pistol.
Marine A will be sentenced on December 6.
