A man wielding a knife has been shot and wounded by security officials outside Israel's Embassy in the Turkish capital.
The Ankara governor's office said on September 21 that the suspect, a Turkish national, appeared to be mentally unstable and had no known links to any terror group.
Reports said police guarding the embassy shot the man in the leg after he took out a knife wrapped inside a newspaper, started to shout, and ignored the officers' warnings to stop and drop the knife.
"We don't know if he was attacking police officers or the embassy itself," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahson said.
No one at the diplomatic mission was hurt.
Several embassies in Ankara were closed last week amid reports of a possible attack.
Turkey has been caught up in a series of deadly attacks in the past year by the Islamic State group and Kurdish militants.
