Uzbek President Islam Karimov is traveling to China on August 19 for an official visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Uzbekistan's presidential press service said the two will discuss bilateral ties and "key regional and international topics of mutual interest" during Karimov's visit on August 19 and 20.
Karimov last met the Chinese president in May on the sidelines of a summit in Shanghai where they spoke about increasing Uzbekistan's participation in a Chinese initiative known as the Silk Road Economic Belt.
That regional initiative seeks to expand a natural-gas pipeline network linking China with former Soviet republics in Central Asia.
It also seeks to create transportation infrastructure through Central Asia that links China with countries as far away as Iran and the Baltics.
