Britain's Defense Ministry says all five members of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) who died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar were British soldiers.
Richard Felton, commander of the Joint Helicopter Command, said the crash on April 26 appeared to be "a tragic accident."
Kandahar provincial police spokesman Zia Durrani said the aircraft went down in the province's Takhta Pul district in the southeast, about 50 kilometers from the Pakistani border.
A Taliban spokesman claimed in a text message to journalists April 26 that the insurgents shot down the helicopter.
ISAF says it is investigating the circumstances of the crash but it had no reports of enemy activity in the area.
