For information on sexual assault and the response of the police, please consult the attached facsimile that was sent to the DIRB on 28 May 1996 by a member of the Moldovan Parliament in Chisinau. In a telephone interview on 31 May 1996, the M.P. in Chisinau stated that she is a member of the Women's Christian Democratic League, a "liberal right-wing" opposition party that holds two seats in Parliament and supports the rights of women and Christians. She added that she is unsure of the precise meaning of the words "discovered crimes," which are located in the second last paragraph of the first page of the facsimile sent to the DlRB.
