Tensions along the Kyrgyz-Tajik border have been high following some shooting incidents earlier this year.
Talks between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on border issues have resumed, a day after a shooting left two Tajiks dead and five injured.
The talks in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on August 26 are focusing on the 46 percent of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border that needs to demarcated.
Kyrgyzstan's border service said earlier that the August 25 shooting erupted after Tajik border guards attempted to set up a border post in unmarked territory along the frontier between the two former Soviet republics in Central Asia.
Kyrgyz border service spokeswoman Gulmira Borubaeva told RFE/RL on August 26 that border guard officials from the two countries are holding separate talks in Kyrgyzstan's Batken region and adjacent Tajik territory.
Shooting incidents along the border earlier this year injured several Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards.
