Germany has paid out $1.1 million (900,000 euros) in compensation for damage it caused during fighting in Afghanistan.
That's according to a report seen by Germany's dpa news agency on January 25.
The figure from the Defense Ministry covers the period between early 2002 and August 2014.
More than half of the amount in question, $601,000, resulted from the German bombing of two tankers in the province of Kunduz in September 2009, when some 100 people were killed. The families of the victims received $5,000 each.
The remaining $503,000 was paid for injured or killed animals and damage to property.
The Defense Ministry compiled the list of payments following a request by a member of the German parliament, Jan van Aken of the leftwing Die Linke party.
