North Korea's UN envoy has said that what he called U.S. hostility could "lead to war any time," but repeated an offer of talks.
Sin Son Ho told a rare news conference on June 21 in New York that Washington had driven up tensions through what he called its nuclear "threat" and by holding war games with South Korea.
But he added that North Korea was ready for "wide-ranging" talks with the United States, including nuclear disarmament.
But the envoy said that Pyongyang will "never give up [its] self-defense war deterrent."
He also called on the United States to lift its economic sanctions against North Korea and urged UN members not to follow Security Council sanctions imposed over the North's nuclear and missile tests.
