Information on these subjects is scarce.

The following information was provided during a 1 December 1997 telephone interview with the Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention in Ibadan.

The Assistant General Secretary did not know whether the pastor of the First Kaduna Baptist Church in 1989-1990 was member of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). The Assistant General Secretary added that the current pastor of the First Kaduna Baptist Church is Reverend Dr. Sholeye. Rev. Sholeye currently resides in Nigeria and travels frequently to the United States where he visits his family.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
