No reports of politically motivated abuses or harassment of supporters of the Alianza (Alianza para el Trabajo, la Justicia y la Educación) could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Administrative assistants at the congressional office of deputy Alfredo Bravo of the FREPASO alliance (in turn a member of the Alianza electoral alliance), who chairs the Congressional Human Rights Commission and presides over the non-government Permanent Assembly for Human Rights (APDH), stated during a 20 July 2000 telephone interview that his office has not received or seen any reports of politically motivated attacks on, or harassment of, supporters of the Alianza or FREPASO since December 1999. The staff added that this does not necessarily mean that no incidents have taken place somewhere in the country since then; rather, it suggests that if there were any incidents, they were probably not serious or significant enough to warrant the attention of the national media, the Alianza or the Commission.

Staff of the individual parties that comprise the Alianza (Union Civica Radical or UCR, and FREPASO, in turn made up of four parties), could not be reached for interviews within the time constraints of this Response.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
