Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has held talks in Tbilisi with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, and his Georgian counterpart, Maia Panjikidze.

Bildt also met with representatives of Georgia's opposition United National Movement party.

Speaking to reporters after the talks on June 30, Bildt said that "the relationship between Georgia and the European Union enters a new and more promising and more important stage."

Bildt added that the implementation of the Association Agreement that Georgia signed with the EU last week will accelerate Georgia's modernization.

Bildt visited Moldova on June 29 and will end his regional tour in Ukraine on July 1.

The three countries signed landmark agreements on closer political and economic ties with the EU in Brussels on June 27.
