Three Chinese citizens have been sentenced in Kyrgyzstan for owning an illegal brothel in Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Court said on May 16 that Xue Xuanje, Shu Fengwei, and Yan Jian Rong have been found guilty of soliciting for prostitution and sentenced to one year in jail each.

The men were arrested in February after police revealed that a karaoke club in Bishkek was operating as a brothel employing some 30 women as prostitutes.

The brothel's clients were mainly foreigners.

The suspects were later transferred from detention to house arrest ahead of their trial.
