Iran's top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq this weekend to discuss the landmark nuclear accord reached between Tehran and world powers, Iranian press agencies said July 24.

Gulf countries, led by Saudi Arabia, have been quick to voice concern over the agreement, which will see a progressive easing of international sanctions on Iran in place since 2006 in exchange for restrictions on Tehran's nuclear activities.

Iran's Gulf neighbors fear the deal could bolster the Shi'ite-dominated regional power, which stands accused of interfering in countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.

Zarif will visit Kuwait and Qatar July 25, and will travel to the holy Shi'ite town of Najaf in Iraq July 26 before heading to Baghdad, according to ISNA and the Tehran Times.

Upon returning to Tehran next week, the Iranian foreign minister will host talks with European Union foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini before meeting his French counterpart Laurent Fabius.
