Recent information on abuses committed against Macedonians in Yugoslavia could not be found among the sources currently available to the IRBDC. For background and current political information involving Yugoslavia's Macedonians, please find attached the articles listed below. These refer mostly to the Macedonian Republic's discussion on the possibility of separation from the other Republics or the formation of a separate armed force. The latest news available, found in the attached 8 August 1991 article, report Macedonia's intention to hold a referendum on the issue of separation from Yugoslavia in September 1991.

One of the attachments was prepared for an upcoming Country Profile on Yugoslavia, and consists of ethnic demography statistics in Yugoslavia based on a 1981 census.
