Hungary's government says it is preparing to seal off its border with Croatia, as it did in September with Serbia, but also wants Austria and Germany to decide whether they will accept more migrants.

Janos Lazar, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff, said on October 1 that officials in Vienna previously rejected proposals for a transit corridor through Hungary that would allow migrants to travel to Austria and on to Germany.

He said a corridor through Hungary for migrants can only be set up after Hungary seals its border with Croatia.

Croatian police said on October 1 that more than 90,000 migrants passed through the Croatia and moved on toward Western Europe in little more than two weeks since Hungary sealed its border with Serbia.

Many passed from Serbia through Croatia and into Hungary to circumvent the barbed-wire fence Hungary built along its entire border with Serbia.
