According to an official at the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa, all Equatorial Guineans, no matter their year of birth, can obtain Spanish nationality by fulfilling a two- year residency requirement (25 June 1998). The official added that offspring of a Equatorial Guinean who has acquired Spanish nationality would be subjected to the same residency requirement.
