Belarusian President Alyanksandr Lukashenka has given Gerard Depardieu, the famous French actor-turned-Russian-citizen, a lesson in hand-scything.
Lukashenka, who is running for reelection in October, hosted Depardieu in his residence near Minsk on July 22 and gave him a lesson in scything the grass on the estate in front of television cameras.
After that, Depardieu was treated to traditional Belarusian food and home-distilled vodka.
Lukashenka, who has ruled Belarus since 1994, has been described as Europe's last dictator.
Depardieu took Russian citizenship in 2013 and has repeatedly expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian government has placed him on its blacklist of people representing a threat to the country's security.
