Information on a special anti-terrorist group called "Contra-Guerrilla" affiliated with the army and the Central Nacional de Informacion (CNI) could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB. For information on the CNI, other internal security organizations of the Chilean state, counter-insurgency groups, and abuses committed by them, please consult the attached excerpts from Chile: A Country Study and Chile: A Time of Reckoning as well as Responses to Information Requests CHL3743 of 24 January 1990, CHL7966 of 27 February 1991, CHL10257 of 10 February 1992 and CHL23036.F of 23 February 1996.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
