In the persepctive of the Second Universal Periodic Review of Kenya, the Civil Society Coalition submitted a joint report which considers the state's implementation of recommendations accepted during its first review in 2010, while also highlighting human rights concerns emerging during the current period under review, from 2010 to 2014. The report is cognizant of the institutional, policy and legislative reforms undertaken during the period under review but proceeds to assess their effectiveness and impact on the overall enjoyment of human rights. An Advocacy Charter has also been prepared by the Coalition as a supplement to the report.

The Charter seeks to highlight contemporary human rights concerns in Kenya with a view to catalysing a robust interactive dialogue during Kenya's review. In addition to our stakeholders' report this charter utilizes information from the State report as well as that of international treaty bodies and special procedures that have reported on Kenya for the period under review. This charter raises pertinent issues for inquiry by Kenya's peers and proposes remedial action by way of recommendations for consideration. It is hoped that this charter will serve as an effective advocacy document that will lead to State commitment to the increased realization of human rights in the country.

This report is a joint submission by twelve non-governmental human rights organizations to inform Kenya's second universal periodic review. The report considers the state's implementation of recommendations accepted during its first review in 2010, while also highlighting human rights concerns emerging during the current period under review, from 2010 to 2014. The report is cognizant of the institutional, policy and legislative reforms undertaken during the period under review but proceeds to assess their effectiveness and impact on the overall enjoyment of human rights.
