According to an official at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Washington DC, a Ghanaian national who marries a Sierra Leonean national would not automatically acquire Sierra Leonean citizenship. [

FootnoteS:

As stated by an official of the Sierra Leonean High Commission in Washington DC during a telephone interview with a member of the IRBDC on 18 June 1990.] The non-Sierra Leonean may apply for naturalization but must renounce his\her original citizenship as Sierra Leone does not accept dual citizenship. [ Ibid.] The official was unaware of the procedural length required to process an application for citizenship but informed the IRBDC that the granting of citizenship would require the approval of the President of Sierra Leone or in some cases, that of his representative in the Immigration Office at the State House. [ Ibid.]

The Information Officer at the Ghana High Commission in Ottawa reports that Ghanaian citizenship is not automatic for a non-national married to a Ghanaian national. [ As stated by the Information Officer at the Ghana High Commission in Ottawa during a telephone interview with a member of the IRBDC on 18 June 1990.] The official stated that one may apply for citizenship to the Ministry of Interior, although he did not know the length of the process. He did, however, state that Ghana does not accept dual citizenship.

Corroborating information for the above sources is currently unavailable to the IRBDC.
