According to Xinhua there are 100,000 street children in Ethiopia, approximately 20,000 of whom are in Addis Ababa (15 Dec. 1995). An earlier Inter Press Service report put the number of street children in Addis Ababa at 50,000, and 100,000 in the country overall (21 July 1994).

The 20 June 1994 Xinhua report describes an Ethiopian NGO that works with street children, while the 4 June 1995 Xinhua report provides information on a recently opened medical clinic.
