The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has presented a two-day training seminar in Turkmenistan aimed at improving the country's airport security and border controls.
The seminar, which concluded on December 18, focused on the topics of biometric documents and identification.
Experts from Australia, France, the Netherlands, and Singapore made presentations aimed at raising the awareness of Turkmen officials about the use of new technologies as well as on international practices for exit, entry, and transit controls at airports.
Christopher Hornek, the OSCE's project coordinator in Ashgabat, said the seminar was designed to help Turkmenistan deal with "modern security threats and challenges."
Experts leading the training sessions included members of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Implementation and Capacity Building Working Group (ICBWG).
