No information on a purported April 2000 massacre of ethnic Albanians in the village of Muhovac in the Presevo Valley region of southeastern Serbia, was found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

A Macedonian Press Agency report published on 18 April 2000 cited a North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Kosovo Force (KFOR) general's description of the situation in the Presevo Valley as volatile despite efforts to de-escalate violence. A May 2000 report citing an American army spokesman noted sporadic mortar and machine gun fire in the Presevo Valley and unconfirmed reports from local Albanians that Serbian forces had "launched an offensive against four villages" there (RFE/RL 25 May 2000). No further reports of this alleged offensive were found among the sources consulted.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
