Former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev's nephew has been released from prison after completing an eventual five-year term for organizing public unrest.
The Kyrgyz Penitentiary System Control Service confirmed on November 19 that Sanjar Bakiev had completed his prison term.
Sanjar Bakiev was sentenced in November 2010 to 10 years in jail for organizing disorders by groups loyal to Kurmanbek Bakiev in the southern city of Jalal-Abad in May 2010.
Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Court later reduced his prison term to five years, also counting seven months that he served in pretrial detention cell as 14 months of his prison term, which is allowed by Kyrgyz law.
Kurmanbek Bakiev fled the country amid deadly antigovernment protests in April, 2010 and has resided in Belarus since then.
He was sentenced in absentia to life in prison in Kyrgyzstan for his role in the disturbances, which left almost 100 people dead.
