Information on the Turkish Cypriot Solidarity Committee founded in 1989 with the support of EDON and the treatment it receives from the Greek-Cypriot authorities is currently unavailable to the DIRB.

However, it might be of interest to note that EDON (Cyprus Socialist Youth) is a major Greek-Cypriot national youth movement with its headquarters in the capital of Nicosia (Angel 1990, 158). EDON was founded as the youth wing of the Cypriot Socialist Party (EDEK) after the Cypriot constitution was adopted in 1960 (Ibid.). According to the same source, EDON has about 2,000 members and is a member of the International Union of Socialist Youth.

Additional and/or corroborative information on the requested subject is currently unavailable to the DIRB in Ottawa.
