Russian President Vladimir Putin has said during a visit to Beijing that state-controlled Russian TV will soon begin broadcasts to audiences in China.
Speaking after talks in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 25, Putin said broadcasts would begin "quite soon" by Russia's TV3.
The channel focuses on entertainment and is part of the Gazprom Media company.
Putin said Russia's state-run news agency TASS and state-run Channel One TV also have agreed to develop contacts with their counterparts in China's state-controlled media sector.
Putin also announced cooperation between Russian and Chinese sports programs, saying China's Red Star hockey team will begin competing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KH), a Russian-run, international professional ice-hockey league.
Ahead of Putin's arrival in Beijing late on June 24, the Kremlin said the Russian president's visit would include talks with Chinese leaders on "large-scale bilateral projects Eurasian integration, and key international issues," including the situations in Syria, Afghanistan, and the Korean Peninsula.
Earlier on June 24, Putin had met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, where both were attending a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
