According to Paragraph 2 of Article 12 of the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil:
The law may not establish any distinction between born and naturalized Brazilians, except in the cases stated in this Constitution [which reserve certain offices for born Brazilians] (1996).
According to the Website of the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, DC, spouses and children under the age of 21 are eligible to apply for permanent visas for "family reunion" (28 Nov. 1998).
