The Working Groups and Task Teams support the GPC in developing policy, guidance and tools, building capacity of national clusters and undertaking field support. The objective of these specialized Working Groups and Task Teams is to effectively implement the GPC Work Plan.

Working Groups are a permanent body in the GPC while Task Teams are time-bound with specific terms of reference. The GPC has established:

• Advocacy Working Group
• Anti-Trafficking Task Team
• Cash for Protection Task Team
• Community-Led Protection
• Human Rights Engagement Task Team
• Information and Analysis Working Group
• Law and Policy Task Team

Each Task Team and Working Group are led by one or more organisation and has Terms of Reference and a Workplan that are endorsed by the Strategic Advisory Group. Across Task Teams and Working Groups, synergies are identified on cross-cutting issues to adopt a holistic approach to protection response planning.
