What is Rapid Needs Assessment Survey?
The COVID-19 Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) is a survey designed to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the refugee community, their living conditions, abilities and challenges they face in Egypt. This survey will be used to advocate for the needs of refugees both locally and internationally. It will also help UNHCR to provide adequate responses and assist in the proper selection of programmes and projects in the event that the COVID-19 pandemic continues for a longer period.
For this purpose, UNHCR, through “Baseera center”, are conducting phone interviews with a group of randomly selected refugees in Egypt to research their situation. We truly appreciate your participation and count on your collaboration during the interviews.
Please note that participation in this survey does not guarantee receiving assistance.
What will happen?
“Baseera”will call you on the phone number registered with UNHCR through the following number: 0221250952
The interviewer will ask to speak to the head of the family, who will respond on behalf of the whole family. In the event that he/she is unable to participate, the phone interview can be postponed to another date or a family member who is aware of the family’s financial and social situation, over the age of 18, can respond on their behalf.
How long will this phone call take?
The interview takes about one hour, depending on the size of the family.
How can I get an appointment?
A staff member from “Baseera” will contact you by phone to give you an appointment. You do not have to approach UNHCR office to book an appointment.
How do I prepare?
- Please make sure your updated mobile number is known to UNHCR by calling the Infoline and updating your information.
- Please have your UNHCR asylum-seeker/refugee cards for all household members ready.
Who should receive the phone call?
The person who makes the decisions should be present at home and should be able to respond on behalf of the whole family, and in the event that he/she is unable to participate, the telephone interview can be postponed to another date or a family member who is aware of the family’s financial and social situation, over the age of 18, can respond on their behalf.
Why do I need to participate in the survey?
You are not obliged to participate but you are strongly advised to do so. By participating, you will contribute to improving the way UNHCR and other partners are providing services and protection.
What will happen after the interview?
There are no individual results from the interview.
UNHCR and partners will collect information from all interviews conducted in an electronic database. This information will then be analyzed for information on the living condition of refugees in the country. UNHCR will use the information to advocate for the needs of refugees both locally and internationally. The information will also be used to assist in the proper selection of programmes and projects.
Kindly note that participating in this survey does not guarantee any receipt of assistance.
